The Lizard thing is almost ready to be submitted....but he's ready for early eyeballin here so you can go check em out a few days before he goes live ;). He weighs in at 5.3k poly, a bit higher then I wanted, but he was a lot less streamlined looking then the alien, plus I picture this being a tougher creature so you shouldn't need whole herds of them on screen at the same time. Had fun with the textures so he'll ship with 20 textures. Basically, 5 base colors with different levels, or a complete absence of markings. Animations are very similar to the alien set, with subtle changes due to different proportions and them damn floppy lizard feet....and of course the addition of a tail. Anyhoo, he was a complete hoot to make, now its off to make something to cull the herds of aliens :D.
Now that the Alien has been sent off and awaiting approval its time to get started on the next one. So my criteria for this one was to stick with the claw, claw bite generic bad guy, and who better then a good ol fashioned lizard man. Plus I get to animate a tail with this guy and that's always a hoot. The high poly model with color is done (as pictured), So its over to TopoGun to bring em down to around 4k or so then stuff a skeleton in em.
Finally made the necessary changes to the imp and further cut down his poly count to get him Unity ready (3k). The image to the left is a screen capture from the unity build and not a render, so no smoke and mirrors to make em look cool :D. To see what he looks like in motion click this here . He is shipping with 28 animations total, basically everything you'd need to make em the bullet catching fodder style bad guys in a SciFi or even fantasy setting. For me he is going to be my launch point to get more familiar with Unitys mecanim and ragdoll functionality so I can eventually mow down a whole heard of these things with some auto cannons and have it look crazy cool :D. Now for the less then fun part of packaging him up, making some pretty icons, then submitting to Unity. So with any luck he should be on the Asset Store in around Tuesday.
