Put the finishing touches on my goblin for an upcoming project, now to rig him up and breath some life into the little fellow.
Got a good deal done towards my unity character package, so I figured I'd put up an image to show were I'm to :D. Basically you'll be able to mix and match hair styles and beards in standard character generation set ups. Next up is putting together some skin variations. And although the picture to the left does illustrate nicely the different styles it also looks a little like the ugliest chorus line in the world, back up before they start those high kicks....yeuck :D.
Been slacking on my blogging for damn sure, so lets get caught up. First off, I have a few new accessories up for the Kobold Avatar and few more statues. Then to take a bit of break from characters I cranked out a few pieces of mesh wall art. The demon to left there is the second one and turned out rather well, or at least a lot better then I had him pictured in my head.....Props to Zbrush for being the best freaking piece o software on the planet :D
Got a few requests to give this lil fella the full avatar treatment, and its all done. besides some swanky (and shamelessly self promoting) shirts and ball caps, he comes with 8 different expressions and a few choices in hands. Anyhoo, he's up and ready so go get em here
Stage two is getting some more gear for him, which will coincide with series 2 kobold statues as well. The deal is if the statues are wearing something it will also include a version that fits your avatar as well. We'll give that a shot and see how it goes :D.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, Synthetic Monkeys has a facebook page, but for real this time, and who knows, maybe I'll even add stuff to that too this time round ;). Be warned, its bland as crap right now, but I'll fix that. here's the link
Just put the finishing touches on the first wave of tiny kobold statues for Second Life. Playing around with the facial expressions and poses were way too much fun, so there will be more in future for sure....and for those of you in SL, there's a new group gift, so come get some.
Well they released the Second Life viewer with the early build that implements the spec and normal maps. I knew it was going to make a pretty big difference, but holy arse its a literal game changer.....Can't wait til this gets through testing and is the new normal. Of course, I can't really say im excited to re-upload all my stuff with normal and spec maps once it goes live.....but hell, for the added the detail and life it gives the models, I'll do it and only complain a lil bit. Really, really glad that creating normal maps has been a part of my process from the start.....going back an re-burning maps would be just gross.
Well I've been meaning to try one of these out for ages, so I've finally gone an done a full set of armor for Second Life. Im quite happy with how it turned out, but its goin to look even swankier when SL upgrades to use normals and spec maps. Which I guess should be soonish, since they're even beta testing it. Anyhoo, armor should be available shortly after i finish writing this.....and just cause they look cool, im including the two statue versions pictured right over there.
Okay, I'm finally launching my very "work in progress" dungeon. Its a combination of several of my available packages and some other odds and ends I have laying around. The plan is to be constantly adding to it as i develope more things and learn new tricks in unity. So be prepared to lose the goblin behind objects and to get stuck here and there.....oh yeah, and there is no "game play" aspect to it at all at this stage, you just run around. So feel free to take a gander here. If all goes according to plan, I'll be revisiting this every Monday to add something too it.....finding a way to kill the minion is high on my to do list :D
Finally got my caves finished and submitted, to check out what that looks like running in unity click dis. I just submitted it a few minutes ago, so it probably won't be live on the asset store til like Monday. My next mini project is putting a whole slew of my packages together in one big dungeon/cavern thingy to show off how it all looks together....I might also take a better look at enemy AI and combat, as its getting a lil too boring running around this maps with nothing to do :D.
Holy, they're on fire today, the caverns are approved and up for sale, you can check that out here
Just got approval on my Unity submission, so modern loot drops are available in the store now. Quite pleased with how it all turned out, and making icons is a blast anyway. I'm making some real good progress on the next submission, so be expecting another post here shortly with some screens.....including as always a goblin ;)
